BRAIN POWER INGREDIENTS

VEGETABLES AND ADAPTOGENS:

NETTLE  LEAF:
Stinging Nettle has been used for centuries to nourish the urinary tract. Long used as a diuretic, it cleanses the entire system by promoting the flow of urine and also aids kidney and bladder function. The herb is used to expel gravel from the bladder, flush toxins from the system and combat urinary infections. The herb's astringency also shrinks inflamed tissues and helps to alleviate hemorrhoids. As an anti-inflammatory, Nettle appears to inhibit the manufacture of prostaglandins, which may cause inflammation, and has thus been helpful in easing neuralgia, sprains, tendonitis, sciatica, arthritis, rheumatism and gout. The herb is also thought to purify the blood and neutralize and prevent the crystallization of uric acid, further helping to alleviate inflamed arthritic joints, gout and rheumatism.

ALFALFA GRASS:
Alfalfa is an amazing "Super food". It is high in calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, potassium and trace minerals. Alfalfa is also high in vitamins A,B,C,D,E,F and K. Alfalfa has many health benefits including regulating the bodies cholesterol levels. Dandelion is a great tonic for people with sluggish liver function due to alcohol abuse or poor diet

DANDELION LEAF:
Dandelion is a source of potassium, sodium, calcium, phosphorus and iron. The leaves are a richer source of Vitamin A than carrots and contain some amounts of Vitamins B, C and D. Diuretic, hepatic, cholagogue, anti-rheumatic, laxative, tonic, bitter. It is a general stimulant to the system, especially to the urinary organs, and is primarily used in kidney and liver disorders.

BARLEY GRASS:
Barley grass is an excellent source of chlorophyll and provides a wide range of vitamins and minerals including calcium, potassium, silica and iron, plus vitamins A, B1, B2, folic acid, C, E and K, manganese, copper, zinc, magnesium, cobalt, sulphur plus many of the nutrients and enzymes commonly found in dark green vegetables.  Barley grass contains no gluten so is the ideal gluten free supplement. It is a great alkalyzer.

OAT GRASS:
Oat grass is loaded with very high amounts of: Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Vitamin B, protein, fiber, calcium, folic acid. Oat grass is known to aid in heart health, as it lowers cholesterol. Higher levels of energy, stamina, and a stronger immune system is guaranteed while adding oat grass to your diet. It is also documented that it can help lower blood sugar and fight cancer. Since humans are frequently exposed to pollution and heavy metals in the air, drinking oat grass juice will eliminate these harmful substances that get built up overtime. This detox effect makes the body more alkaline, which balances out our overly acidic bodies. An overly acidic body is a breeding ground for disease and cancer. All processed and fast foods are acidic, and his highly recommended not consuming these foods during a cleanse.

HORSETAIL/ SHAVEGRASS:
Horsetail herbs contain high levels of silicon, or silica acids, which is a mineral that's necessary for bone density, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC). Because of horsetail's silicon content, it can provide benefits for improving bone density in people with osteoporosis.
This herb's silicon content also assists in improving connective tissue resistance and is used in treating rheumatic conditions. Horsetail's silica acid and silicates that provide 2 to 3 percent elemental silicon can strengthen connective tissues, provide an anti-arthritic benefit, and play a key role in forming bone and cartilage. Due to its diuretic benefits, horsetail is often used to treat or prevent chronic kidney stones and urinary tract infections. Also, horsetail has some benefits in toning the mucous membranes in the urinary tract.

PARSLEY LEAF:
Parsley -- especially the Italian flat-leaf variety -- packs a healthy range of vitamins and minerals: vitamins A, B-12, C and bone-building vitamin K, beta-carotene, folic acid, iron, protein and calcium. One-half cup fresh parsley fills 10 percent of your daily requirement of iron and has three times the vitamin C as an orange. The abundant chlorophyll in parsley heightens immunity, lowers inflammation, clears toxins, gets rid of mucus and freshens your breath. Parsley also contains alpha-linolenic acid, am omega-3 fatty acid that can also help prevent cardiovascular disease and arthritis.
Parsley contains a volatile oil called myristicin, which can inhibit tumor formation in the lungs according to a study published in the October 1992 issue of "Carcinogenesis." It also contains the flavonoid compound apigenin, which may stop the growth of breast cancer tumor cells, according to a University of Missouri study published in "Cancer Prevention Research." Salman Hyder, who led the study, found that apigenin -- also found in celery, apples, oranges and nuts -- blocked the formation of new blood vessels and reduced the overall number of tumors in rats.
A natural diuretic, parsley also helps eliminate wastes and lessen water retention, which can aid in weight loss. Its high enzyme content improves digestion of proteins and fats and absorption of nutrients. For women, parsley can also help PMS, regulate menstrual cycles and ease symptoms of menopause, such as irritability, depression, dry skin and hair loss.

AMERICAN BASIL:
Basil contains many nutrients with manganese, magnesium, iron, copper and calcium offering at least 20 percent of the recommended daily allowance of minerals in just one serving. One serving of fresh basil provides more than 300 percent of the day's requirements for vitamin K. Basil also contains at least 20 percent of the day's vitamin A and C and a small percentage of several of the B vitamins.                  All parts of the plants are useful from the essential oil, leaves, seeds, flowers to roots. The essential oils have shown antibacterial and antiseptic activity on two varieties of Salmonella, E-coli, Staphylococcus and Candida, according to Cornell University. High in several vitamins and minerals, the essential oils contain around 5 percent of potent antioxidant activity. These antioxidant levels are below that of green tea, but higher than rosehips

HOLY BASIL/TULSI:
Holy basil possesses significant detoxifying ability. Fatty acids in holy basil show effective anti-inflammatory properties. Holy basil may be useful to prevent seizures. Some of these compounds reduced blood sugar and cortisol levels, conserved energy production and decreased adrenal size, indicating holy basil's significant anti-stress capability on several levels.

MORINGA LEAF:
The researchers found that Moringa leaves had 2009 mg of calcium per 100 g -- about 3.5 oz. by weight. That's more calcium than 6 cups of milk. Moringa is also rich in iron. The researchers found that 100 g of Moringa leaves have 28 mg of iron -- more than 7 oz. of chicken liver or 9 oz. of beef tenderloin.
Moringa has antibacterial, antiviral, anti-fungal, antidepressant and anti-inflammatory properties

CHICKWEED:
Eating fresh chickweed in a salad or drinking chickweed tea may aid in digestion and help reduce symptoms of indigestion, bladder infection and peptic or gastric ulcers. Chickweed acts as a diuretic and a mild laxative and can help relieve symptoms of constipation. Ingesting large amounts of chickweed may lead to vomiting and diarrhea; avoid using chickweed if you're pregnant or breastfeeding.                               When used fresh in tea or salads, chickweed may act as an anti-inflammatory and a pain-reliever. Applying ointments or lotions that contain chickweed may help ease swelling and pain in the joints due to arthritis, gout and rheumatism.

GINGER ROOT:
Anti-inflammatory, anti-rheumatic, lowering colesterol effect and liver fat reduction, prevents the progression of cáncer and tumor formation.

BEET ROOT:
This root vegetable is low in calories, fat and carbohydrates and is rich in potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, vitamin C, folate, vitamin A and beta-carotene. Another quality of interest is its high concentration of nitrate and subsequent health potential for reducing blood pressure, increasing exercise performance and controlling metabolic diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

CAROB POD:
Unlike chocolate, carob contains no oxalates. Oxalate consumption can lead to kidney stones. If you are at risk for kidney stone formation, your doctor may require you to limit oxalate-containing foods, including chocolate.
Carob provides a chocolate-like flavor, but is very low in oxalates.
Carob contains calcium, which is important for proper bone and teeth formation, helping prevent osteoporosis. About 3.5 oz. of carob provide almost half of the average person's daily calcium requirement.
Carob contains a number of beneficial vitamins include vitamins A, B, B2, B3 and D. It is rich in minerals such as magnesium, iron, phosphorus, manganese and potassium. It is also a good source of fiber and protein. In additional to being naturally cholesterol-free, carob also contains pectin, which lowers cholesterol levels and decreases your risk for heart disease

SHILAJIT:
According to Ayurvedic medicine, shilajit is traditionally used as a formula to increase energy and overall health. Shilajit helps accelerate the body's processes of protein and nucleic acid metabolism to fuel reactions that provide energy. The herb is used in folk medicine as a blood-sugar regulating agent to purify the blood and improve function of the pancreas. These energy-increasing effects are believed to boost the immune system and improve recovery after exercise.
Powerful anti-inflammatory properties. Increases the body's carbohydrate and protein ratio, while decreasing the gastric ulcer index, indicating an increased mucus barrier

AMLA BERRY:
It is a very strong antioxidant.
Also calIed indian gooseberry, it has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for treatment of pancreatitis, common cold, fever, hepatitis, cancer and stomach problems. It's also used as a diuretic and laxative. Folk remedies include it for treatment of immune system disorders, to protect the liver and to prevent cancer

YAKON LEAF:
Raw Yacon leaves contain a rich myriad of vitamins and minerals. In South America, tea from the yacon leaf has long been used as an herbal remedy for diabetes and high blood pressure. Research indicates that yacon leaves are effective at normalizing blood sugar levels. The yacon leaves oligofructose properties act similar to insulin in the body and reduces the burden on the pancreas. Studies also suggest that yacon leaves are beneficial for those with hypertension. By thinning the blood Yacon can lower blood pressure by 5 to 10 percent. It can also lower cholesterol and discourage clot formation. Yacon leaves also stimulate the body to break down fatty cells while boosting the metabolism. For this reason organic yacon leaf powder has gained increased popularity as a diet aid.

Yacon is a perennial herb native to the Andes Mountain Range in Central America at elevations of 900 to 3000 meters. Dating back to the period of the Incas, it has been cultivated extensively around the region for consumption and medicinal purposes. The wonderful benefits of yacon then discovered by ancient Peruvians and confirmed by modern science have gained increased popularity in Japan, Europe and now the US.

Some possible benefits of our raw organic Yacon leaf powder may include:

● Normalizing blood sugar levels
● Reducing blood pressure
● Reducing the risk of atherosclerosis
● Reducing the risk of osteoporosis
● Prebiotic & antioxidant properties
● Nourishing & protecting the liver
● Natural antibacterial & antifungal properties

WHEAT GRASS:
Skin cleanser, highly oxigenating, improves digestión and metabolism, high content of antioxidants, removes acné scars, treats acné and pimple disorders, purifies the blood and cleanses the kidneys, liver and urinary tract, provides energy immediately,  increases the red blood count, appetite suppresant, regulates blood sugar levels

Spirulina:
Spirulina is an exceptional food and an incredible source of concentrated, non-toxic, absorbable nutrients. It is a highly beneficial substitute for protein powders. The protein in Spirulina contains all 8 essential amino acids, making it a complete protein. Spirulina (a blue-green algae), also contains vitamins A, B-1, B-2, B-6, B-12, E, and K. In addition, Spirulina also provides minerals, trace minerals, cell salts, phytonutrients and enzymes, as well as an abundance of chlorophyll & other beneficial pigments.

Raw meat is 27% protein, and even soybeans are 34% protein. Spirulina is 65% complete protein, making it the world's highest known source! Plus, our Spirulina is dried at low temperatures (enzyme active), so protein utilization is maximized versus a heated protein.

Chlorella:
Chlorella is the only plant on the planet that can quadruple its growth in less than one day. It contains Chlorella Growth Factor (CGF), which is a potent phytonutrient comprised of amino acids, beta glucans, nucleic acids, peptides, and polysaccharides. These micronutrients work together to help regenerate cells faster than normal* to help your body recover from whatever is ailing you, letting you focus on everything else that is important. Let us focus on your health!
Icelandic Kelp:
Kelp is the number one plant for supplementing iodine. It is our belief that supplementing in whole food form is always easier on the body and more bio available than using synthetic chemicals. Iodine is important for healthy thyroid function - and is especially important now with the increase in our radiation exposure. The thyroid, located in the throat, is responsible for regulating metabolism and body temperature. Kelp is also a natural diuretic, and has been used for supporting hair and nail health.

Dulse:
Sea vegetables contain significant amounts of vitamins that help to combat nerve damage, fatigue and memory loss. Studies show that dulse is a great source of energy and that is why you should add them into your daily nutrition. Furthermore, it is rich in vitamin B12 found in protein-based diet s like meat.
Dulse is a nutritious seafood, commonly classified as a ‘’super food’’ because of its active role in improving function of the immune system. So, if you have low energy levels or you want to ease flu-like symptoms, simply grab this nutritious diet for overall health and general wellness. Dulse is rich in Vitamin A and Vitamin C, which help to improve function of the immune system.
Additionally, dulse is an excellent diet for preventing the onset of night blindness as it is high in Vitamin A. Regular intake of sea vegetable can protect against poor eyesight and night blindness associated with premature aging signs. So, it would make sense to incorporate dulse to your nutrition for vitality.
Researchers suggest that dulse also has cardiovascular benefits. Sea vegetables are high in magnesium and vitamin B, which help to normalize blood pressure, preventing the onset of heart attack and stroke. On the other hand, their high folate content helps to nourish the red blood cells.
While there are no known side effects associated with the consumption of sea vegetables, make sure you take it in moderate amounts.

Nori:
Nori is a type of edible sea vegetable or seaweed that originated in Asian cuisine. Nori may also be known by its scientific name Porphyra yezoensis, or by the more general term kelp. Laver is another word that might sometimes be used interchangeably with nori; laver is type of kelp. No matter what name you call it, nori in your diet can be beneficial to your health due to its myriad of nutrients.
Seaweed of many kinds, including nori, is rich in vitamins and minerals, including iodine, magnesium, calcium, sodium, iron and folic acid. A 1993 article in the"Journal of Applied Phycology" reports that nori is also high in dietary fiber, zinc, copper and selenium. All of these minerals are essential to your continued health. The concentration of nutrients in nori is high when compared to its calorie content. The World's Healthiest Foods reports that 1/4 cup contains only eight calories.
The wealth of nutrients provided by nori in your diet offers you a variety of health benefits, from the digestive regularity provided by the fiber, to its natural anticoagulant properties that may protect you from blood clots and stroke. The folic acid in nori plays a significant role in the neural tube development in the first trimester of pregnancy, though expectant moms should refrain from eating sushi rolls that contain raw fish that could be harboring dangerous bacteria. The seaweed also contains chemicals and acids that may prevent you from developing high cholesterol, which reduces your risk of heart disease and gallstones. The magnesium content of nori may control inflammation in the body and manage the frequency of migraine headaches in some people.

Alaria:
Coming from the sea, Alaria is a rich source of organic trace minerals in a form that is very easily assimilated. No land plant can compare.  Iodine deficiency is commonplace and land plants typically do not supply the amount of iodine needed to meet our needs. Inorganic iodine added to table salt is not an ideal form.
Alaria, as do most seaweeds, inhibit cancer cell growth in animal studies. They are considered anti-mutagenic, and anti-tumor. It is postulated that the low rate of breast cancer and lung cancer in Japan (despite the high rate of smoking) is due to seaweed consumption. Seaweeds can lower serum cholesterol levels as well as blood pressure and help remove arterial plaque as well as decrease platelet stickiness. Alaria and certain other seaweeds can also lower raised uric acid levels and can be anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral.
Alaria can be very effective in preventing damage due to radiation exposure from power plants, nuclear tests etc. (This radiation can virtually travel around the globe in small amounts and effect our health.) Nuclear facilties release radioactive Iodine 131 into the atmosphere. Iodine 131 (which can be inhaled) is heavier than natural iodine 127 and is implicated in the increasing rates we see today of thyroid cancer and other thyroid disorders. The only thing that protects our bodies from this radioactive isotope (Iodine 131) is having adequate amounts of iodine 127 (as exists in seaweed, etc.) Besides protecting against radioactive iodine, testing has shown that seaweeds also help remove radioactive strontium from the body. Following this line of thinking, it may also be very valuable in people undergoing radiation therapy, as it may decrease side effects and speed recovery.
Let’s look at two very important components of alaria: algin and fucoidan.
Algin is a great remover of heavy metals from the GI tract. We don’t find it as effective as Takesumi supreme as an all round systemic detoxification agent (except in cases radiation toxicity for which it is superior) but it can complement Takesumi in removing toxic metals and chemicals (those of you well versed in applied kinesiology can use testing to determine which product is a priority in a given patient). It does though have a higher nutrient profile than Takesumi and many patients will benefit from taking both.
Fucoidan is an anti-inflammatory component of alaria. It is an immune stimulant but more important, is great to use after physical traumas (and surgery) to speed the healing response. Fucoidan breaks down into fucose, a natural sugar that they have found receptor sites for on human cells suggesting it is an essential nutrient.
Brown seaweeds such as alaria also have been shown in studies in Japan to help us excrete dioxins and PCB’s more effectively. Alaria can help prevent reabsorption of toxins (metal and chemical) in patients with “leaky guts”.
To summarize: Alaria is a superb source of nutrients, especially organic iodine and trace minerals, but other nutrients as well. It is moderately anti-microbial, an excellent protector against subclinical (as well as acute) radiation poisoning, as well as metal and chemical toxicity. It has some anti-cancer properties as well as being anti-inflammatory. I test it on each patient and feel it should be an essential part of most people’s diet. Being a “superfood” there are many more intangible benefits that may be realized beyond the scope of this short article.
Bladderwrack:
Bladderwrack, or kelp, is useful in the treatment of underactive thyroid glands. People who are overweight due to thyroid trouble may benefit from this herb by reducing their weight. The iodine in the kelp helps maintain a healthy thyroid, and the nutrients and oxygen increase the body's ability to burn fat when exercising. Bladderwrack is rich in the constituents algin, mannitol, carotene, zeaxanthin, iodine, fucoidan, and bromine. It is reputed to have a beneficial effect for relief of rheumatism and rheumatoid arthritis (internally and externally applied to inflamed joints).

Nutritional Role of Bladderwrack

Bladderwrack contains three main constituents: iodine, alginic acid, and fucoidan. The iodine in Bladderwrack helps those people deficient in this trace mineral to regulate and improve thyroid function, thus it is beneficial for hypothyroidism and goiter. It works as an anti-inflammatory and possesses anti-rheumatic properties to relieve arthritis and rheumatism. Bladderwrack's anti-bacterial properties help ward off bacteria and viruses. The alginic acid constituent, a type of dietary fiber, is useful in relieving constipation, diarrhea, and heartburn. The fucoidan constitutent, another type of fiber, contributes to lowering cholesterol and glucose levels.

Traditional Uses of Bladderwrack

  • For thyroid gland and metabolism

  • For hypothyroidism and goiter

  • For rheumatism and rheumatoid arthritis

  • For irritated and inflamed body tissues

  • For weight loss related to thyroid problems

  • For fat burning during exercise

  • For stamina

  • For cholesterol and blood glucose levels

  • For dietary fiber

  • For anti-bacterial properties

Research on the Historical Usage Guidelines of Bladderwrack

There are no known toxicities. It has not been determined whether bladderwrack is safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. People who are allergic to iodine may need to avoid bladderwrack.

~ Enzymes: A Simple Way To Improve Your Health ~

Do you want to feel better?

Do you eat cooked or processed foods?

If the answer is yes, then you need enzymes to feel better and improve your health!
More than 90% of the food eaten by the average American is cooked or processed at temperatures greater than 118 F. The heat involved, whether it comes from micro waving, steaming, broiling, roasting, pasteurizing, sauteing, stir frying or any other source, destroys food enzymes. The result is incomplete digestion, less nutrition, greater stress on your digestive system, which can lead to more digestive problems.
Your digestive tract is not designed to handle
the modern American diet of cooked and processed food.
Nature intended it to take advantage of the enzymes present in all raw foods. Your body uses enzymes to digest food you eat. Two ways you get enzymes to perform this task are externally from the food you eat (food enzymes). To compensate for these lost food enzymes, your body must work harder and create more digestive enzymes to fully digest your food. If you've ever felt sleepy after a meal, it's because your body is working harder than it should to digest the food you've eaten.
Enzyme Supplements: a simple way to improve your health.
By taking an enzyme supplement with each meal or snack, you'll replace some of the enzymes lost when food is cooked or processed. You'll get more nutrition our of your food, allowing your digestive organs to spend less effort on digestion and more energy on keeping your body healthy. If you have problems with indigestion, gas, bloating, constipation or reflux, a digestive enzyme supplement can help your body bread down more thoroughly, fewer digestive complaints occur.
Your practitioner can recommend the right enzyme supplements to help with digestion and meet your specific health needs.
By taking the proper blend of supplemental enzymes, you will:
  • Increase the nutrients you absorb from your diet to improve overall nutrition
  • Decrease or eliminate indigestion, gas, bloating and reflux
  • Address the underlying cause of digestive complaints rather than temporarily masking the symptoms
  • Enhance the body's digestive efficiency, reduce fatigue and increase your energy
  • Leaving energy to focus on other functions, like strengthening the immune system and regenerating cells and tissues
  • Ease stress on digestive organs, especially the pancreas, by reducing their workload
  • Improve general health and quality of life
Enzymes at Work
Bananas arrive in the store green and ripen over time-this is an example of enzymes at work. Natural enzymes turn that bitter green banana into a sweet yellow banana and eventually a soft black banana. When you eat a banana, its enzymes will help digest the banana as it passes through your digestive tract. Every time the food enzymes you ingest break down food, your body has less work to do in the digestive process, unfortunately cooking and processing destroy these naturally occurring enzymes and force our bodies to take on the full burden of digestion.

PROBIOTICS: 33 mg
LACTOBACILLUS BLEND:

• Lactobacillus plantarum • Lactobacillus bulgaricus • Lactobacillius paracasei • Lactobacillus rhamnosus • Lactobacillus salivarius • Streptococcus thermophilus
What Are Probiotics?

Repeatedly demonstrated to aid gastrointestinal health in the human body, acidophilus and other probiotics are key elements of our overall health and well being. This is particularly true when we consider that many of our common-day chronic ailments begin in the digestive system. It is also true when we consider the sheer number of people that suffer from poor gastrointestinal health, a condition which lowers the overall level of good bacteria in the body.
Before we go into the multi-fold benefits of taking probiotics, let’s define what probiotics are. The Joint FAO/WHO Working Group defines probiotics as “live microorganisms which when administered in adequate amounts confer a health benefit on the host.”
In plain English, probiotics are a type of living bacteria that actually benefit your health when taken in the appropriate amounts. This friendly bacteria, located in the gastrointestinal tract, comes in a variety of forms. With more than 400 different bacteria living in the human gastrointestinal tract, the most common forms of intestinal probiotics are L. acidophilus and Bifidobacteria bifidum.
These bacteria act as balancing agents for non-friendly, pathogenic, gut-bacteria such as Candida or E. coli. When the “good-guys” are not present enough, a number of bacteria-related health problems such as digestive upset, headaches, sluggishness, irritability, cadidiasis (an overgrowth of the bacteria Candida albicans), and even anxiety can ensue.
Lactobacillus acidophilus is, quite possibly, the strongest of our probiotic fighters. Studies show that L. acidophilus actually creates a natural form of antibiotics in the body. This natural antibiotic increases our ability to produce antimicrobial action against the pathogens in the food we eat, the air we breath, and the things we come in contact with. Stress, unhealthy lifestyles, and most importantly, unhealthy acidic diets, destroy our natural amounts of probiotics. In this sense, it is a great idea to add a probiotic supplement to your diet.

The Health Benefits of Probiotics

The following health benefits are associated with the intake of daily doses of probiotics.
  • Enhanced immune system response
  • Reduces negative affects of taking many types of antibiotics
  • Aids in preventing and treating colon inflammation following surgery
  • Helps to prevent eczema in youth
  • Increased ability to digest food
  • Therapeutic for viral respiratory tract infections by enhancing the overall immune system
  • Reduces lactose intolerance
  • Reduces incidence of yeast infections, vaginitis and candidiasis
  • Increases ability to assimilate the nutrients from food
  • Alleviates many common digestive disorders such as constipation, diarrhea and IBS
  • Acts as a remedy for bad breath (halitosis)
  • Increases ability to synthesize vitamin B
  • Increases ability to absorb calcium
  • Promotes anti-tumor and anti-cancer activity in the body

Who Should Take Probiotics?

There is no question that candiasis sufferers require supplemental use of probiotics to replenish beneficial GI bacteria and rebuild the immune system. Even if you don’t have candidiasis, environmental and food toxins, coupled with the high-stress lifestyle of most North Americans, are good indicators of the widespread need for probiotics.
This is especially true if you are consistently taking antibiotics, or if you have ever been on a course of particularly strong antibiotics, have frequent colds, or exhibit any symptoms of candida related problems. The reason for this is that antibiotics kill bacteria both good and bad. Despite their value, antibiotics have been overused to the point that there are at least two bacteria that have developed complete resistance to antibiotics. Needless to say, these bacteria present a serious problem to our health.

Studies on Probiotics

  • Studies show that probiotics improve the bio-availability of many important nutrients in the body such as zinc, iron, phosphorus, all of the B vitamins, calcium, copper, and magnesium.
  • A study on the probiotic strain B. infantis showed powerful abilites to normalize bowel function in patients suffering from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). [ Probiotics have been shown to significantly lower the rate of diarrhea and diaper rash in babies’ consuming infant probiotics.
  • Active bacteria cultures, such as acidophilus, have been shown to aid in reducing intolerance to lactose found in dairy products.
  • Several studies on probiotics have indicated that through the process of regulating intestinal transit time of fecal matter, probiotics can dramatically reduce constipation in the elderly.
  • Other reports indicate that some forms of probiotics, can aid in promoting the growth of healthy bacteria in the colon, significantly lowering the conversion of bile in the colon into carcinogens.
  • Some studies demonstrate that probiotics enhance overall immunity through a process of regulating lymphocytes and antibodies in the body.
